Wapiti get pushed around by human traffic and sometimes become casualties as they try to cross busy US Highway 191 between Four Corners and the mouth of the Gallatin Canyon. These elk enjoy in both photos above enjoy a brief respite near Cottonwood Road. Some landowners who know how important the land is for elk are still moving forward with development plans.
