The wildness of Greater Yellowstone and Jackson Hole left an imprint on Hadley Hammer early in her life and in recent years her thinking has evolved about how the wild essence of the backcountry can still be saved in the face of swelling numbers of human users. Her conclusion today%3A humans need to become more respectful and knowledgable about the needs of wildlife and where necessary limit our intrusion into the last vestiges of great habitat.
