"First Light—Elk" by Thomas D. Mangelsen captures the moment a herd of elk crosses the Snake River in Jackson Hole with Mount Moran, a Teton peak, rising in the background. It is one of Mangelsen's more famous pictures. Many of these, part of Mangelsen's "Legacy Series," are appearing in a nationally-touring exhibition called "A Life in the Wild" that is now on display at the National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson Hole through early May.
