Orville "Butch" Bach is one of Greater Yellowstone's living legends. For nearly 50 summers he has been a backcountry and naturalist interpretive ranger in Yellowstone National Park. An alum of Auburn University in Alabama, he spent normal academic years as a longtime professor of business and economics at a community college in Tennessee, where he taught students to ponder not only monetary balance sheets and profit and loss, but intrinsic values and the worth of things that cannot be replaced.MoJo highly recommends that readers check out two of his recent books—Reflections from Yellowstone and Beyond; and Tracking the Spirit of Yellowstone: Recollections of 31 Years as a Seasonal Ranger. His book Exploring the Yellowstone Backcountry: A Guide to the Hiking Trails of Yellowstone is considered a classic and has been in continuous print for four decades.
