EDITOR'S NOTE: Park County commissioners recently met to outline the process for updating the county's growth policy. Mountain Journal welcomes and will occasionally publish Guest Letters submitted by readers. Throughout the state, in every direction, we’re surrounded by examples of what can go wrong when communities give up local control over growth. In repealing the current Park County growth policy, Referendum 1 would leave a gaping hole that would enable poorly planned developments that could permanently damage the county we love. Please allow the current growth policy to stand during the development of the new (and hopefully clearer) growth policy the commission has just approved.

Let’s support healthy growth that preserves the essentially rural nature of our county and its economic vitality. If you care about preserving the character of Park County, please vote NO on Ref 1.
