This map shows that record high temperatures are fast outpacing record low temperatures. Not only does that portend declining snowpacks, drier and hotter summers and wildfires, but it also means more winter melting of snow that accumulates and likely more outbreaks of pine beetles formerly beaten back by cold winters.
